Scholarships

The first objective of Clan Lindsay, as set forth in the Certificate of Incorporation and defined in the By-laws, is to make charitable and educational assistance available to men and women of Scottish descent and to their lineal descendants. Each year, the Council devotes a considerable amount of the budget to Scholarships for applicants of all ages to pursue the study of Scottish Arts.

Clan Lindsay U.S.A, Inc. awards scholarships from two funds:

  • The Katy Smith Scholarship Fund - designated for non-members of Clan Lindsay
  • James B. Pressly Memorial Scholarship - designated for members of Clan Lindsay or members of their immediate family

Scholarships may be awarded in the areas of Highland Dancing, Scottish Piping, Scottish Drumming, Celtic Fiddle, Celtic Harp, Gaelic Singing and Spoken Language, and any other Scottish study deemed deserving of financial assistance. (For the purposes of these scholarships, the "study of golf" is not eligible.)
